Stampin’ Up! Life in the Forest
Being the mother of teenagers can give you a unique insight into life in general, especially when it comes to trends. And sometimes this insight fails you dismally. But more of that later.
I got this charming set because I almost never buy animal sets, and then I almost always regret not buying them. I always hang back and wait to see whether they stay in the catalog or make the catalog, and my judgment, while usually pretty darned good, really sucks when it comes to animal sets. Then when the animal set actually DOES stay in the catalog or makes the catalog, my interest is either over or I've seen so many samples done with it that I can't think of anything fresh to bring to it.
So this time I thought I'd break the curse and buy Life in the Forest. I've been rewarded by seeing hardly any samples made with it (I'm sure they are out there, but I just haven't seen them). So when I started playing with it, I thought of a trend I had seen recently (mother of teenagers, but again, more on that later) and away I went! Lookie:
Ingredients: Stamps – Life in the Forest, Just Sayin, Simply Serif Alphabet'; Paper – Retro Fresh DSP, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Coastal Cabana, So Saffron; Ink – Coastal Cabana, Tangerine Tango, Baked Brown Sugar; Other – Word Bubbles Framelits, Circles Framelits, Retro Fresh washi tape, Pool Party Twine, In Color Boutique Details, Fringe Scissors, Small Scallop trimming blade, 1/4" square punch (retired), dimensionals.
STINKIN' CUTE! (YILM!) But there's more! Think trend..yeah…it had to be done!
For those unaware of where this comes from, there is a viral video/song called "What Does the Fox Say" by the Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis. It's very stupid, and while I had seen and heard many references and spoofs of it, I hadn't actually watched the video until after I made the card.
And so we move from the sparkling success section to the dismal failure section. I showed this to my almost-17-year-old daughter, who proceeded to roll her eyes and say, "Oh, Mom. I'm so done with you. Just done." Apparently, this trend is OVER. Who knew? Not me!
You can buy these sets and almost everything I used to make this card in my webstore, and if you wait until the 28th, you can take advantage of Sale-A-Bration! Ta!
