Stampin’ Up! Happy Watercolor Mother’s Day Card – Creative Crew April 2014
This card was made for a challenge calling for using watercolor. We could use anything we wanted to paint with, including ink pads with the AquaPainter, watercolor pencils (though we don't sell them anymore), or anything else that would produce the desired effect. I decided to go with the first option. I also decided to watercolor on Shimmery White cardstock since it holds up well to the water and looks gorgeous with color added to it. I also decided to heat emboss the image first to achieve the darkest color without danger of being blurred in the painting process.
Ingredients: Stamps – Happy Watercolor, Delightful Dozen, Doily, En Francais; Paper – Coastal Cabana, Shimmery White, Wonderful Wisteria, Daffodil Delight; Ink – Versamark, Wonderful Wisteria, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Strawberry Slush; Other – Black EP, Labels Collection Framelits, Whisper White stitched grosgrain, clear EP, Basics Jewels rhinestones, Aqua Painter, Wonderful Wisteria marker, Sakura Quickie Glue pen, sponge wedges, dimensionals.
GOJUS! (YILM!) Honestly, this photo does not do this card justice. Here's a close-up:
Beautimous! (YILM!) When it came to the background, I decided to stamp with two background stamps together, as I love the look that can be achieved that way, so En Francaise was a great choice, but what to put with it? I finally decided on Doily, and I love the way they work together.
The white doodling on the edge of the shimmery white, by the way, was done with a Sakura Quickie Glue pen, which I then added clear embossing powder to and heat embossed before I started painting. I love the way it adds definition to the edge.
Stay tuned for more projects from the Creative Crew challenges for the month of April! You've still got time to pick up these products from the Occasions mini from my webstore, and you can buy this card on Etsy! Ta!
