Stampin’ Up! Sea Street Birthday Card
I have to confess, this is the first thing I thought about when I saw the cute little crab from the new set Sea Street up on the big screen at the catalog premiere. I have to confess as well that I am a big geek when it comes to certain movies, those being Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Marvel Action Movies, X-Men, and let's not forget….
Yes! I immediately thought about Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End! I thought about the scene where Captain Jack Sparrow was in Davy Jones' locker, and when all those crabs that look like rocks appear, Captain Jack says,
"Perfect. What would my torment be without unusual crabs here to mock me." Well then. It had to be done! Lookie:
Ingredients: Stamps – Sea Street, Alphabet Rotary stamp, Its Your Birthday (retired); Paper – Naturals White, Soft Sky, Pool Party, Lost Lagoon; Ink – Smoky Slate, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Lost Lagoon, Whisper White ; Other – Coastal Cabana twine, sponge wedges, Regals candy dots.
STINKIN' CUTE! (YILM!) This has to be one of the simpler cards I've done in a while. Here's the inside:
Most of the greeting is formed by the new Alphabet rotary stamp, which may be my favorite new thing in the catalog. Once upon a time, I would have had to use one of the smaller alphabets and stamp things like this one letter at a time, but this stamp allows me to create short phrases with ease. The only trick is making sure you get it all inked up, as usually the letters will not be in a perfect line, and you might miss the bottom or top edge of a letter, as well as making sure you get it all stamped for the same reasons. Rocking the stamp slightly will definitely help with that, and if you do miss a few edges, you can always go back in with a marker and add them in.
