Fab Friday – Challenge 57 – Groovy Love Valentine

Now that our holiday hiatus is over, it's time for a new Fab Friday challenge over at the Fab Friday Challenge Blog!
This week we have a color challenge:
When I first saw this challenge, I decided it WAS a challenge. I really don't like these colors together much, but once I realized these colors are in the Stacked with Loved paper stack along with black and white, I decided going with black and white and using the colors as accents would work perfectly. Und so I did. Lookie:
GOJUS!!! (YILM!) I love that this card would work equally for a man or woman. I was trying for a modern, groovy look (the zebra stripes just kind of go there!) and originally was going to use the "Groovy Kind of Love" stamp but it didn't fit. I can't tell you how HARD it was for me to put that washi tape on at an angle. I like right angles, apparently, so tilting something almost never looks right to me, but with this card, it looked right…at least once I got the angles just right! More views:
I love the red glimmer paper arrows and the Crisp Cantaloupe twine is the perfect touch, even though I thought it wouldn't work until I got it on the card.
The hearts were stamped with Versamark and embossed with black EP. I also did something out of the box (at least out of MY box…er…that just sounds WRONG) by sprinkling the little rhinestones in the background instead of doing my usual two or three in the corner. I could do this because the card already had a very strong visual triangle, so I didn't really need to do my usual way of balancing the card, but I wanted the bling and also to help break up the solid white on that side of the card.
And, of course, had to do the inside too!
You'll be able to see all of our creations and post one of your own by visiting the Fab Friday blog. You can also visit the other DT members' blogs and see what they've done with this challenge:

Love how bold this is! I’m glad I’m not the only one who had to use black with these colors….a challenge for sure this time! TFS!
Love this card, Jan! You’re right – the colors didn’t look like they’d work together at all – but they sure did! Very nice job!
A throughly modern look, Jan and I love it! The black embossing pulls it all together. I think your tilted washi tapes are perfectly lovely! Love that thick twine too.
