Coffee Lovers Blog Hop – Essentials by Ellen Oh Frappe et al

So yesterday I decided to bust out of all the design team work just to do something FUN! And fun to me equals COFFEE. LOTS of COFFEE (have I had any yet today, well I don't know, does it sound like it?!?…actually, not enough, but okay). So I am hopping with the Coffee Loving Cardmakers this week!
When decided which of the coffee sets I own I was going to use, i decided to combine more than one set, starting with Oh Frappe from Essentials by Ellen. And I also grabbed the bear from Essentials by Ellen All Inside because I LOVE HIM and his ability to hold things! I thought with a little tinkering, he could hold the frappe cup from Oh Frappe. Then when looking at the Hero Arts Need Caffeine set, one of the greetings from that seemed perfect for my bear and his YUGE cup of coffee! Lookie:
STINKIN' CUTE!!! (YILM!) I'm a genius!
I wanted the cup to look transparent, but I didn't want to mess with paper piecing it with acetate…though that would work. Instead, I used my MISTI. I die cut out both pieces, then used my MISTI to line the stamp up and stamp on both the cup and the bear pieces. Then I used my scissors to carefully cut the bears arm a little more on the upper part so the cup would fit. I inserted the cup, then just inked the upper part of the bear to stamp on top of the cup inside the bear's arms. I colored the bear and cup in with Copics, using my colorless blender to create highlights on the cup plus made some ice cubes in the cup…don't they look like ice cubes? I love using the colorless blender to do stuff like that!
I coated the cup with Ranger Glossy Accents to make it look like a nice plastic cup.
I stamped this greeting with Memento Rhubarb and just cut it out carefully with scissors since I have no matching die and didn't want to fire up the Silhouette for such a simple shape.
I did the background by stamping the coffee beans from Oh Frappe with Versamark and then sponging over the top with Pear Tart ink. It's a technique I keep forgetting about, honestly, but it really was just perfect for creating a subtle background that wouldn't detract from the main image.
A big of baker's twine and a few little yellow-green jewels are the perfect accents.
SO CUTE! I love that bear! LOVE HIM!
