Fab Friday 104 – My Favorite Things Sketched Blooms
This week we have a color challenge:
I decided I needed to break out the watercolor paper for this one and just have some fun playing with the ink. I wanted to do a floral card and do some embossing resist, so I flipped through my sets for a floral set with outlines. I came up with My Favorite Things Sketched Blooms, which I have used before (wow! A set Jan has used before! When does that happen? Hardly EVER!) I also decided to do another birthday card because why not? Lookie:
GOJUS!! I started out by stamping a bouquet of flowers with Versamark ink and heat embossing with clear powder. Then I taped my paper down and used the ink to make a wash of color, Sweet Sugarplum at the bottom, blending into Soft Sky at the top.
I then inked up the solid images and stamped on top of the embossed ones. I added more color behind the top flower with a paint brush.
After I had dried all the layers, I flicked some water onto the paper and after letting it set a few seconds, dabbed up the water with a paper towel. I also flicked some soft sky ink onto the paper. I loved that little area in the bottom left with the little heart shape with its two dots of lightened paint so much that, although I had originally planned on putting the sentiment over on that side, I couldn't bear to cover it up so I moved it to the right side.
I stamped the sentiments from Label Maker Sentiments on cream colored card stock and heat embossed quickly with clear EP. I then cut them out with the Label Tape dies. I popped these above some washi tape, one from the Playful Palette washi assortment from SU! and the other some retired SU! washi. I added some retired silver baker's twine. I also added some Darice Crystal sequins to the card front, as the colors really sparked off these sequins.
It is even MORE GOJUS in person!
Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you.
