Tim Holtz Hipster Fresh Brewed

Tim Holtz Hipster Fresh Brewed

I'm posting this on a Sunday evening, after a long busy day, but I spent a great deal of time making this yesterday, and I'm pretty darned pumped about it.

I made it for two reasons. One is that Tim Holtz is having a blog challenge called Hip for Summer for this stamp set, and I LURVE it. I love these wacky animals and their hipster glasses! Lookie!

GOJUS! I had a great time using Distress Oxide Inks with four different Tim Holtz set to get this bright summer card!

I started out with a Distress Tag, because the surface is the absolute BEST for blending the Oxide inks! I did a blended background using Ranger blending tools, spritzed with water, then started flicking droplets of Oxide inks. I stamped the "sun" in the background using Distress Oxide Spiced Marmalade. Like any Oxide background, I just kept working it until I got what I wanted. I stamped Ms. Hipster Ostrich then used a wet brush to pull the distress ink away from the inside of the image. This made the stamped image lighter, in spite of my efforts to dry it beforehand. So after I got done coloring in the image with more Oxide ink, I re-stamped it in the MISTI. I then added some white gel pen to make the eyes more visible. I decided to cut the image down by die cutting it with the Stitched Rectangle dies from Tim Holtz/Sizzix.

The second reason I made this card is it's time for the 2017 Summer Coffee Lover's Blog Hop, so it seemed a great idea to combine the two! I stamped the coffee cup on another tag and blended some Oxide ink over the top. I added white gel pen highlights, and I ADORE this look. I fussy cut the coffee cup out and added some Glossy Accents to the lid.

I went on a long journey with this card, I can tell you! I originally thought I would put the ostrich piece on top of a blended card base, but once I got done with it, it was SO LOUD. I decided to cut it down to a smaller panel using the strip dies from the Stitched Rectangles die set. I had already stamped the cross background from Mixed Media 2 using Fossilized Amber Oxide ink. I added some coffee washi from Sweet Stamp Shop. and stamped the greeting on a spare piece of tag and ran a black marker around the edge to make it pop.

The card base was too bright though, so I decided to tone it down by creating a graphic background with some of the other sentiments in the set using my MISTI to easily stamp the words in lines going down the card. For the final finishing touch, I added a couple dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Black Ebony.

This is one amazing, crazy card! I love how it turned out!
