Dare to Get Dirty Challenge – Mondo Peony from Essentials by Ellen
I’m back for a second day, with a second post in one day (the first being my post for Fab Friday!), participating in Dare to Get Dirty on Splitcoaststampers this year since I am an alumni of the Dirty Dozen team.
This particular challenge is hosted by my friend, Lydia Fiedler, the site manager over on Splitcoaststampers, and while I can’t give you the details (only for Fan Club members!), I can show you what I made! Lookie:
GOJUS!!! It’s really even MORE gorgeous in person. This particular challenge resulted from using a inspiration Pinterest board and the photo I used for inspiration had these colors. I decided to stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Solar White card stock and color with Copic markers.
I’m usually one for really bright colors, so using these muted shades was quite a challenge, but when I was done, I was thrilled with the look. I darkened the center of the flower with a black pen and added Sakura clear glaze to the stamens in the center. The question then became should this be a anniversary card or a sympathy card? I don’t make many anniversary cards, so I decided to do that.
I used colorless blending fluid on a cotton ball to go over the gray background to create a unique texture that helps the smooth petals stand out.
I chose to use Totally Awesome from Essentials by Ellen as the sentiment, and I stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with gold EP. I also added the punched heart that was heat embossed with Altenew Translucent Pearl EP for a bit of shimmer. I also added a bit of striped paper to reference something else in the reference photo from Echo Park’s Wedding Bliss 6 x 6 pad. The colors in that pad really match the colors I used here.
I added a couple of jewels up in the corner and mounted the piece to some Super Gold Curious Metallic card stock and then on a white card base.
Wow. So beautiful!
Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Stampin’ Up! links go to my BFF Wendy Weixler’s store, who does not pay me except in eternal friendship, but you can change to your favorite demonstrator if you prefer. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you.
