Simon Says Stamp Summer Flowers – Distress Ink Watercolor Background

Simon Says Stamp Summer Flowers – Distress Ink Watercolor Background

I admit, I watch a lot of YouTube videos now. I never did that before back when I was a demonstrator for Stampin’ Up! Instead, I lived in a stampin’ bubble. Demos tend to stick to their own products and don’t often venture outside of them (with notable exceptions). So once I left my stampin’ bubble, I had to catch up on what the rest of the papercrafting world was doing. Now I watch videos from a number of different crafters and companies, and I’m having a ton of fun trying a bunch of different things.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that achieving clean and simple cards is a struggle. As I’ve left my bubble, I have stopped using a ton of layers for the most part, stopped using ribbon almost entirely (in fact, I’m getting rid of most of it), and now use far fewer embellishments.

When I saw this great video from Wplus9 Design with Kelly Latveola, I thought it would be a fun technique to try with a set I had bought from Simon Says Stamp. And boy, it was a great idea.

GOJUS! Sunflower pictures are just everywhere over social media right now, and since I had made this card last month and managed to sit on it that long, it seems the perfect time to show it!

I did some righteous masking to do this card, and my MISTI was an absolute must. Unlike Kelly, I used watercolor paper for my background.

I used this beautiful set from Simon called Thoughtful Messages to add a greeting. I cut out the entire background with my favorite MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangles die and popped in on top of a white card base with fun foam.

And it really did not need anything else. No sequins, no Nuvo drops, no baker’s twine. NOTHING. I love it!

Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC,, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Stampin’ Up! links go to my BFF Wendy Weixler’s store, who does not pay me except in eternal friendship, but you can change to your favorite demonstrator if you prefer. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you.

Enjoy! Ta!
