Fab Friday 121 – Essentials by Ellen Modern Christmas
This week we have a sketch challenge:
First, I just got some new stuff from Ellen Hutson than I was dying to play with! And, I’m excited to tell you that Ellen Hutson LLC has a great sale going right now! I’ll share all the deets once we get through the necessary reading of my deathless prose and awesome photos!
I decided I wanted to use Modern Christmas designed by my favorite stalker, Julie Ebersole! I also decided to use Distress Oxide inks to create a beautiful background AND to do the stamping of the focal image. I decided to change the oval to a rectangle and to move the sentiment piece lower. And I LOVE how this came out! Lookie:
I love how these colors make a beautiful fresh combination!
The focal piece has the holly first stamped with Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink. I then used a blender tool to sponge Lucky Charm Distress Oxide onto just part of the stamp and stamped over the top to get a soft blended look. This is something that only works this well with a pigment or chalk ink but it works even better with Distress Oxide. I then took the cross-hatched holly leaf and stamped over the top with Golden Glitz Delicata ink, which adds a beautiful shimmer. The berries were stamped with Candied Apple Distress Oxide and then I added Nuvo Glitter White Blizzard drops over the top of them for more shimmer and glitz. I also spattered the piece with Candied Apple and Golden Glitz inks.
The background was made by blending Twisted Citron and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide inks in a lovely ombre look. I then spritzed with a shimmer spray made with Perfect Pearls and spattered with water, Delicata, and Lucky Clover ink (I keep wanting to type Lucky Charms, LOL).
I made the greeting by stamping with Versamark and embossing with gold EP. I added a little baker’s twine just to make a visual triangle.
So pretty! I love it!
And now, for the sale! From Ellen Hutson:

Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Stampin’ Up! links lead to my BFF Wendy Weixler’s store, whose friendship is something I highly value, and I’m always happy to throw business her way. She does not reimburse me for doing so. If you have your own demo, you can of course change over to them. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you.
