Simon Says Stamp – Brush Stroke Messages – October 2017 Kit
I absolutely fell in love with this kit after I got it because of the PAPER. OMGosh, this paper is GORGEOUS. In fact, I went and placed an order for the 12 x 12 My Mind’s Eye Blush because the 6 x 6 was sold out. They got some more 6 x 6 in the very next day after I placed that order , but it sold out almost immediately. I love the stamp set too. Love the metallic card stock. LOVE the Steel Navy embossing powder! It’s a great kit! Lookie:
GOJUS! It was hard to get good photographs of this, so I put the one that I usually put at the end of a post at the beginning because the card looks the best in this photograph. This card underwent QUITE an evolution, with my first idea of a very pale vanilla card with blush accents yanking in the navy blue I originally did not want to use after all.
I cut the background and a partial circle out of the My Mind’s Eye paper with the Stitched Rectangles and Stitched Circles dies from Simon Says Stamp. I double stacked the little Spiral Flower die pieces I cut out of the mirrored card stock because I felt it popped out better.
The greeting was created by first stamping the greeting with Versamark and embossing with the Steel Navy on some of the Ivory card stock. I thought one of my sentiment dies would work for it, but it’s a little tall for any of them, so I settled for just cutting a diagonal point on one end. But it was a little bare, so I decided to use the Ranger Emboss It pen along the edges and embossing with Altenew’s Golden Peach embossing powder, which GUYS, is a perfect match for this paper!!! And after I got the card all together, I decide to add this swipey line under the word Birthday, and it was JUST right!
I admit, I wanted some baker’s twine for this, and I dug through my stash and pulled this retired Blushing Bride twine from Stampin’ Up! out, and GUYS! It was a great match! I’m so mad that no one else makes this shade with the popularity of this blush shade everywhere! I will have to hoard this even more carefully! Tell me you don’t do that! What I should do is make scads of cards and get this color out of my system. Instead, I’ll carefully tuck all this paper away, MEANING to make something else. Then in 5 years, I’ll find it and think, Oh yeah. I remember this. Why didn’t I?…hmmm…
I added a couple of blush-colored rhinestones up in this corner for the perfect touch!
Wow, the glare off that metallic foil spot there! Lovely!
