2017 Winter Coffee Lover’s Blog Hop plus MFTCC82 – My Favorite Things Coffee Date
I always like to get at least one card posted when the Coffee Lover’s blog hop comes around, so I made this cute card with two great MFT sets I bought when they were released, because I’m all about the coffee (though only decaf these days, SOB! stupid insomnia!) And I wanted to also participate in MFT’s current color challenge:
The challenge was to make this color combination look wintery enough. And with the help of a Starbucks gift card, I think I managed it. Lookie:
GOJUS!! I used my MISTI to stamp all those coffee cups, which was a challenge. I didn’t have all the ink colors in the challenge, so I ended up using a couple of Altenew’s inks which were close enough.
I want all that coffee right now!
I decided some snowflakes die cut from some DCWV Glitzy Glitter paper that matched the cornflower blue would be just the thing to add a wintery touch.
It was only after I had finished most of the card that I decided to make the front a gift card holder. The foam tape behind the Stitched Label die allows the gift card, which I picked out at Starbucks to match the card, to only go so far. There is a piece of folded card stuck to the back of the label which keeps the gift card from falling out yet also creates enough bulk that the label doesn’t droop when the card is removed.
Here it is with the gift card! The sequins are self-adhesive ones from Jillibean Soup.
Here it is without the gift card. The great thing is it still looks nice without the gift card in it, so the recipient can both display this card and use the gift card immediately.
Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Stampin’ Up! links go to my BFF Wendy Weixler’s store, who does not pay me except in eternal friendship, but you can change to your favorite demonstrator if you prefer. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you.
