Simon Says Stamp – Beautiful Flowers
I got this beautiful set in the latest Simon Says Stamp card kit. It’s a beautiful set, with the huge main stamp with a floral spray. The other night I pulled it out, stamped it, and started to color with my Copic markers, pulling the colors from the ModaScrap papers included in the kit. I loved the soft pastels, and with the detailed antique looking image, I struggled to get exactly the right color palette, but I think I succeeded.
GOJUS! I decided to layer a piece of the ModaScrap paper on the card front behind my stamped image…I love the soft colors!
I originally colored all the flowers in a monochromatic way, but it looked very flat. So I changed it up by using some of the colors from one flower in the shadowed areas of others, with the red violets on the peach flower and the violet flower, colder blues on the aqua flower, and peaches on the pink flower. Then I laid the background in, trying to get that antique look, but it wasn’t until I added the lightest yellow to the highlights of the flowers. After that, I worked on the background, adding dots of color to the shadows to give an antique look. I added a shadow behind the flowers to help them come foward off the page.
I created the greeting by stamping and heat embossing in white on Peacock and Audrey Blue card stock. I used a tiny scrap of Bazzill Candy Hearts card stock for that little fishtail piece sticking out the side, cut with one of the dies from MFT Stamps Stitched Sentiment Strips, just to bring a little more pink into the design. The Happy greeting piece’s fishtail was cut with Stampin’ Up!’s Triple Banner punch. I added a couple of Doodlebug Design’s glitter sprinkles that were a perfect match for the purple flower.
I added some Wink of Stella clear to the centers of the flowers and also the insides of the word “Happy” to give a little sparkle!
I love how it turned out!
