Paper Craft Crew 304 – Impression Obsession Dude
Welcome back to the Paper Craft Crew Challenge! This week we have a theme challenge, which is Fancy Fold. I was pressed for time this week, so I grabbed a set I had on my desk, Impression Obsession Dude, and decided to make a fairly simply Z fold card. It’s really the first basic fancy fold any stamper learns to make, and I thought it would make a great fold for this set since it comes with so many outside plus inside sentiments.
I also wanted to play more with my Life Changing Brushes from Picket Fence Studios so I grabbed some Wendy Vecchi Blendable dye inks to do a rainbow kind of look. Lookie:
I love this dude! I started out by heat embossing the dude on white card stock using Versafine Onyx Black and clear EP. I then masked off his face, collar, waistcoat, shirt cuffs/hands to keep them white and used my Life Changing Brushes to make a soft gradation of color starting with Sunflower at the top, Prickly Pear, Garden Patina and then Bluebird at the bottom. The brushes did a beautiful job of getting a really smooth blend from top to bottom.
I used the Small Brick Wall stencil from MFT Stamps and Watering Can with the Life Changing Brushes to stencil over the background.
I used one of the new Detail Blending Tools from Ranger to give the Dude a shadow with more Watering Can ink so it didn’t look like he was floating. I then created the Z fold by scoring a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of card stock in half, then scoring the front at 2-1/8″ from the edge, folding it back, then adhering my image matted on black card stock with some Be Creative tape. I added the sentiment heat embossed on red card stock popped up with some thin 3D black foam squares.
And I added the inside sentiment.
The final touch is the red Doodlebug Sprinkles up in the corner, which helps anchor my visual triangle. This is really quite different from the kind of thing I usually do, but I really like it! I love all the snarky sayings with Impression Obsession Dude, so I will definitely be using this set again and again.
