Mitten State Monday – Christmas Tree Holidays

Mitten State Monday – Christmas Tree Holidays

Welcome to my new feature, Mitten State Monday, where I will feature projects each week with my own Mitten State stamps through TechniqueJunkies.com. For this week,  I’m using Christmas Tree Holidays. It’s the perfect stamp for whipping out really quick cards because it’s card-front size, like most of my stamps. And they will look really elegant and simple stamped in just one color on a quality card stock.

I designed to look like the woodcuts or the lino cuts I made in high school. You can certainly create any number of backgrounds with any techniques you would care to and then simply stamp on top with one dark color, and you will be good and fine.

For this card, though, I wanted something a bit fancier. I stamped and heat embossed and then added the color afterwards. Lookie:

GOJUS! I used Distress inks to lay in the blue background after I stamped and heat embossed in black.

I created the halo around the star with a piece of Post-It Note tape punched with a 1-inch circle punch. I colored in the tree itself using Tombow Brush markers.
