This week we have a sketch challenge:
I grabbed a set I just got for this sketch. I recently placed a pretty large Mama Elephant order because honestly, their stamps are what lured me to the dark side! (i.e., away from Stampin' Up!). I loved this kitty set because they are so very kawaii (cute) and I loved all the little sushi images. I did buy the dies that match because I find with tiny stamps it's hard to get the Silhouette to trace them accurately. Lookie:
STINKIN' CUTE!!! I took this card through a spectrum of looks. Originally, I was going to use a bit piece of that red washi paper for the background, but it was rather overwhelming, so I decided to use it for those banner elements instead.
I had fun coloring these kitties and their bowl of noodles and sushi with Copic markers. I actually added some details with Sharpie Ultra Fine-Point pens.
I used my favorite Sakura Stardust pen to add some glitz to the little swirls on the bowl and the word enjoy that I added from the new Sweetest Greetings set from Mama Elephant. I also used a tip I saw on one of Jennifer McGuire's videos and added some Sakura black glaze pen right over the top of their tiny little eyes. I really love how it makes them pop!
I heat embossed the other half of the sentiment using Versamark and white EP. I added some gold sequins to help break up those stark white spaces.
The final touch was this cute fishy bones clip from Doodlebug Design.
KITTIES!!! I love them! I really am a cat person, but unfortunately, I am married to a person who is allergic to anything with fur.
Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you. Stampin' Up! links lead to their website, and you can choose your favorite demonstrator or check out as a guest.
