Fab Friday 123 – Essentials by Ellen Modern Christmas
Welcome back to the Fab Friday challenge over at the Fab Friday Challenge Blog!

This week we have a sketch challenge:

FabFri123

After I got my background made, I decided to flip this sketch because it really worked better with what I was using, which was Essentials by Ellen Modern Christmas stamps  along with the matching Essentials by Ellen Modern Christmas dies from Ellen Hutson LLC. I had this idea in the back of my head for a Distress Oxide background, and this was the perfect opportunity to try it out. And it came out so very much like I thought it would! Lookie:

GOJUS! I had this idea of a misty, cloudy sort of background, like you get in some oriental paintings, where the objects in the background seem to arise out of a mist.

I used Cracked Pistachio, Iced Spruce, and Broken China to create this background, doing the usual dabbing ink on a craft sheet, spritzing with water, picking it up with Neenah Solar White 80# card stock, repeating, sprinkling water and more ink, and repeating that until I got the result I wanted. I also used some Hero Arts Unicorn White. After I got what I wanted, I stamped the tree background with the Unicorn White ink in different spots on my background, using the MISTI to make sure that I got a nice solid image. I cut the background out using the largest Tim Holtz Stitched Rectangle die.

I then grabbed my Kuretake Gansai Tambi set and spattered white and pearlescent white over the background to give the effect of snow. This is where I decided to flip the sketch at this point. Originally, I was going to put these two trees on the line elements coming in on the lower right in the sketch. But then I wanted to put one of the greetings from the set on the card. What to do? I realized if I flipped the sketch, the trees could stand in for that banner element on the upper right corner of the sketch. BINGO! I stamped the trees with Versamark on Neenah Solar White and embossed with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder then cut them out with the matching die.

I created the sentiment strip out of Neenah Solar White with the Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder and cut the sentiment strip with the edging dies from Tim Holtz Stitched Rectangle dies and also cut a strip from this beautiful aqua color glitter card stock from DCWV Glitzy Glitter Cardstock Stack that is the perfect match for Broken China. I die cut a couple of little stars from that as well using MFT Hip Clips dies.

I popped a couple of Doodlebug Design Lily White Glitter Sprinkles up in the corner to help complete the visual triangle and popped the whole thing up using fun foam on a Neenah Solar White #110 card stock base.

Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Stampin’ Up! links lead to my BFF Wendy Weixler’s store, whose friendship is something I highly value, and I’m always happy to throw business her way. She does not reimburse me for doing so. If you have your own demo, you can of course change over to them. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you.

If you’re reading this in an email, you’ll have to click TWICE, once to get to the LinkDeli site and again to get to the shop of your choice.
