Paper Crafts Crew #247 – Essentials by Ellen Stay Salty
Welcome back to the Paper Crafts Crew Challenge! This week we have a sketch challenge:
It's been a while since I played with anything from Ellen Hutson, so I decided to grab a set that, YES, I have used before! I love Stay Salty for its funny punny sayings. I've been wanting to use one of these especially and I thought this sketch would be a good opportunity. Lookie:
STINKIN' CUTE!!! I didn't buy the dies for this set, and I didn't feel like trying to cut out this small image with the Silhouette, so I decided to make it all one layer (at least the scene…I ended up popping the scene piece up on some craft foam). I started out by stamping the clouds and the seagull on Neenah Solar White 80 lb. card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black since I planned on coloring the seagull with Copic markers. I then took my Molotow Grafx Art Masking Fluid Pump Marker and masked off the seagull and clouds. This had been sitting for a while, and I found I really had to shake it, like, A LOT to get it to remix back to where it was thick enough to work. I then used blending tools and distress inks to create my scene, using a piece of Post-It tape for the horizon.
Once I got the scene done, I sprinkled a little water on it to create little dots. I then colored the seagull with Copic markers and stamped the greeting below him with Lady Bug Memento ink. I added a shadow under the seagull to ground him in the scene.
I added some Darice crystal sequins to add a bit of bling.
I love it!
