Welcome back to the Paper Crafts Crew Challenge! This week we have a sketch challenge:
I thought this sketch would be perfect for one of my new sets from Altenew, Modern Cats. I love that this set has a sympathy option so you can make cards for friends who have lost their cats. It really is devastating for a pet owner to lose a beloved animal, which makes it imperative for their friends and loved ones who make cards to make a special card for them. Lookie:
GOJUS! I decided to use papers from my go-to for kitty cards, Kitten Smitten from Doodlebug Design. But I wanted to have a softer look, so I chose gray and pink shades.
It took a few tries to get the kitty image just right. It's a multistep stamp, so I stamped him in Earl Gray ink from Taylored Expressions and used a sponge dauber to remove a little of the ink toward the center to make it lighter. This had the added benefit of making it look furry. I then used Oreo ink from Taylored Expressions to add the paws, tip of the tail, and the facial features.
This cute washi I picked up from the Kawaii Pen Shop. This was an interesting buying experience, as I bought multiple items, and they did not all ship together. Instead, they are shipped directly from the factory, so they came in tiny little packages over the course of 2 weeks. I think I finally got everything, but it was fun having a little surprise in the mail almost every day!
I stamped the sentiment with Oreo ink and quickly heat embossed with clear EP. The heart I punched from Doll Pink card stock from Simon Says Stamp and I made it a broken heart by cutting it in half with a jagged line. I then applied Ranger Glossy Accents to make it dimensional.
My final touch was some Nuvo Crystal Drops in the color Neptune, which is a soft gray blue green. I don't have a lot of these yet, but I'm hoping to collect more since you can make a nice little "enamel" accent but choose the size you want. They come in many pretty colors.
I am really happy with my kitty sympathy card.

Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Stampin' Up! links lead to their website, where you can choose your favorite demonstrator or check out without one. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you.
