Paper Crafts Crew 253 – Essentials by Ellen Mermaid’s Tail

Welcome back to the Paper Crafts Crew Challenge! This week we have a color challenge:

PCC253

Guys, I was dying to use some new stamps I had gotten from Ellen Hutson LLC, and this color combination was PERFECT to use with it! Lookie:

I started out with the background, creating a smooth blended background with Distress Oxide inks.

I then stamped the mermaids tail on the background multiple times using only water! This created a beautiful watery looking background that I enhanced further by flicking water droplets on the background.

I then stamped the mermaid’s tail on another piece of card stock with Versamark and heat embossed with clear EP. I then blended more Distress Oxide inks over the top of that and die cut the tail out using the Mermaid’s Tail matching dies. I spritzed both the tail and the background with shimmer spray made with water and Perfect Pearls. Once I put everything on the card, I felt that the tail did not stand out enough, so I used a couple of colors of Zig Clean colors to add darker tones to the background behind the scales.

I used the Sentiment Label Strip from My Favorite Things to create the greeting, stamping with Versamark and embossing with white EP. I added a couple little shells from the Mermaid’s Tail die set and added some bubbles to the background with Tonic Nuvo drops.

Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Stampin’ Up! links go to my BFF Wendy Weixler’s store, who does not pay me except in eternal friendship, but you can change to your favorite demonstrator if you prefer. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you.

Enjoy! Ta!
