Salt Staining Background Video – Stampin Up Sleigh Ride Edgelits

Salt Staining Background Video – Stampin Up Sleigh Ride Edgelits

I was looking at some cards using the Sleigh Ride Edgelits and showing a customer one of them. I really thought that the background on a card I was looking at was this technique, but it wasn’t. So I started thinking how great it would look with these edgelits, and once I tried it, I knew I’d have to do a video on how to do it.

I learned this cool technique when I was in college studying watercolor, but it also works beautiful with ink. The great thing about it is you probably have everything you need to do it right in your stamp room and your kitchen.

I layered two of the edgelits to create a scene. I used Shimmery White cardstock for this technique because it holds up well to water and also I love the subtle shimmer that you can see in this photograph.

The salt both draws color to itself and repels it, giving this unique background that looks wonderfully frosty.

I thought the perfect accent was one of these Winter Wonderland Embellishments!

Here’s the video! I’ll show you a couple more cards afterward that I made using this technique.
