Simon Says Stamp – On a String

Simon Says Stamp – On a String

This cute new set caught my eye immediately in the last Simon release. I’m always into sets that have little bits that can be interchanged. Lookie:

For some reason, when I originally looked at this set, I though the strings were meant to be horizontal and you were supposed to hang the things from them that way. But after I decided to use this set and I looked at samples, it was the other way! So that’s how I did this card, though I still think that doing the string horizontal would work too!

First, though I did my Distress Oxide background in the usual way, putting the ink on the craft sheet, spritzing it, and picking it up with the card stock, lather, rinse, repeat, LOL. I love the frosty look I got. I am really enjoying creating Christmas cards with this new option!

I stamped the strings with more Broken China Oxide ink. I stamped the snowflakes with Versamark, embossed with Altenew’s Translucent Pearl EP for a little shimmer, then used more Broken China over the top to create an embossed resist. Then I die cut them all out with the matching dies and adhered them with glue dots. I added all the little dots of Nuvo Silver Moonshine drops for a bit of added sparkle to go with the DCWV silver glitter paper.

I stamped and heat embossed on vellum card stock and layered it over the top of another piece of white card stock stamped to make a shadow for the white embossing. I then stapled it to the side with a little bit of silver thread looped behind. I especially love that little white area I left there on the bakcground.

It turned out so pretty, but you know what? I’m not really ready for snow, so let’s NOT let it snow just yet! Smiley from Millan.Net‘Kay?

Stampin’ Up! links go to my BFF Wendy Weixler’s store, who does not pay me except in eternal friendship, but you can change to your favorite demonstrator if you prefer.
