I really loved this set, so getting it as part of my guest design spot was wonderful. There are so many clever and punny sayings! I got an idea for a magic glimmery landscape for the snail to travel through, and I wondered if Versamark resist would work with Distress Oxide ink so that some ghostly elements could be seen in the background? And it worked wonderfully!

GOJUS! I started out by stamping the background elements with Versamark. I then applied the Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink over the top, and the leaves and stems ghosted right through.

I stamped the other elements over the top except for my snail, which I stamped on a separate piece of card stock and die cut with the matching dies. I made sure my background on the shell was not white as I wanted the snail to look like it belonged over the background. And you can’t really see it, but I added a bit of a glimmery trail behind and below the snail with some clear Wink of Stella.

I added a few water droplets over the top to create a more magical look and added some Darice Crystal sequins as well with Tombow Multi Mono.

I decided not to do anything complicated for the greeting, so I just stamped it in the corner.

The one thing I didn’t like about it was the ink looked dusty and flat, since I wasn’t able to activate the ink with water. So instead, I applied Tim Holtz Micro Glaze over the top. Note that I did this AFTER I put the sequins on and adhered the snail and his shell because Micro Glaze makes the card stock somewhat impervious to adhesives. The glaze deepened the ink and gave some dimension to the landscape. It’s very simple to apply with the tip of your finger, and then you just buff off the excess with a paper towel. I’m really happy with the result!

Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Stampin’ Up! links lead to my BFF Wendy Weixler’s store, whose friendship is something I highly value, and I’m always happy to throw business her way. She does not reimburse me for doing so. If you have your own demo, you can of course change over to them. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors (not to mention, keeps me from sacrificing so much of my children’s inheritance!), and I thank you.
