Fab Friday 115 – Mama Elephant The Cats Meow et al
Welcome back to the Fab Friday challenge over at the Fab Friday Challenge Blog!

This week we have a sketch challenge:

I knew exactly what I wanted to use for this! I have had a tendency to do a lot of vertical cards, but this horizontal sketch was perfect for this new stamp set from Mama Elephant. Again, you can see I have a real weakness for kitty stamps! This card is like night and day to my muted sympathy card though!

Finding the time to stamp lately has been challenging. My son, he of the wayward finger, had to take a summer school class to finish up to get his diploma, and I have been sitting at Starbucks near his high school for 2 hours while he's in class, since it's about 10 miles away from our house and I didn't want to spend an hour just driving back and forth. I have been getting a lot of knitting done, but this time I took my stamps and supplies along to get a start on this card yesterday. And yesterday was the last day of the class, so he's done with it! Almost at the finish line, he has one more online class to finish to be done. This mama is going to celebrate, which really ties into this card! Lookie:

STINKIN' CUTE! I love this crowd of kitties, and I broke with my usual realism when it comes to colors of fur just to make a really happy brightly colored crowd. I chose papers from the Fun in the Sun 6 x 6 paper pad from Doodlebug Design for my colors. I used the Stitched Rectangles dies from Simon Says Stamp, and on some of the pieces I double cut them to create a rectangle with different proportions.

It was so fun choosing which kitties would be which colors. They all have their unique personalities.

I thought it would be fun to grab a kitty from Little Cat Agenda to be floating up with the balloons from Celebration Balloons. I picked the one with the umbrella and carefully masked off the umbrella so he could be holding the balloon instead. I have the dies for Little Cat Agenda so I just trimmed off the blank spot where the umbrella once he was die cut. I do not have the dies for the Celebrations Balloons and didn't feel like messing with my Silhouette just for this one thing, so I fussy cut it out, but I have linked up the dies for them below.

I used a black glaze pen from Sakura to make the balloon strings since I had heat embossed the images with clear EP (yep, I was sitting at a table in Starbucks with my heat tool, embossing!) I added some Wink of Stella over the balloons to give them a bit of bling. I also used my favorite Sakura Stardust pen to add some glimmer to the crown on the princess kitty and the star another kitty is holding.

A little more bling with a couple of gold glitter Sprinkles from Doodlebug and some thin gold striped washi From Little B.

I decided for the greeting element in the sketch to use one of the small sentiments in Celebration Balloons on black cardstock to give the card some punch, setting off the bright colors. It was really hard to cover any of those kitties! I wanted them to all show!

This turned out so beautifully! There is plenty of color and bling, and this would be a great card for a birthday or congratulations.

Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies.
