Simon Says Stamp September Card Kit – Look for the Rainbows
Hey hey hey, look at me, making a card, like a human would do, with Simon Says Stamp’s September Card Kit!
It’s been a crazy summer of creativity, allowing me to really do things I have not been able to do for years. For the past few months, I have been painting and drawing, and more importantly, I have been SELLING my work, which for me is a big thrill. So it has been harder for me to roll the art wagon back and just make a card. I have made cards for years as a kind of sublimation for doing art, and you know, I have learned a lot about art just by making cards, so much so that I was able to pick up paints and pencils as if I had never stopped. So don’t feel bad for “just making cards” because it’s all art, and cards serve an important place in our lives. How else can you send a hug in the mail?
Anyway, I finished a commission the other day and I decided it was time to just do something with all of the stuff that has been piling up on my desk waiting for creativity to strike. In particular, I’ve let 3 or 4 Simon Says Stamp card kits float right by, from receiving the box to being filed away in my stash, and since I got the invoice yesterday for the October kit, I felt I really, really should make something with the September kit, which is still available! Lookie:
Because my watercolors were still sitting on my desk, I decided I would watercolor the stunning flowers in the kit. I loved the paper pack that was included by Vicki Boutin. The striped paper really spoke to me,and I decided to use that as the base of my card design as well as pulling colors from it to paint with.
I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and heat embossed on watercolor paper, then painted and cut them out by hand. The kit does not include the matching dies for this set, but they do sell a set, and I have linked them below.
I loved the Nuvo Crystal Gems in the kit and made a little arch over the greeting and used one of the enamel dots included below the greeting.
I ended up using a kraft cardstock for the card base because I thought it really enhanced the colors and complimented the paper. I think it turned out GOJUS, and I have someone in mind for this card who needs some cheer. Simon Says Stamp September Card Kit has a lot of what I like in a card kit, great images, beautiful colors, and fun embellishments!
